Adding Your Book to the Goodreads Database

I’ve never spent much time on Goodreads. A big mistake. There is a wealth of information on the site and a robust community of book lovers.  You can connect with old friends, make new ones, and discover books you otherwise would never know about. As a new author, it provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with potential readers.
I logged into my account that I’ve had for four years and typed in the title of my book. It wasn’t in the database. I did some exploring and discovered I could add the book myself. So I did! Here's how:
Click My Books

Click add books

Click Manually add a book
Fill in all the blanks

Click Create book
Now your book is on Goodreads!

Rachelle Gardner has an awesome blog post How Authors Can Effectively Use Goodreads. Check out her 12 tips. I’m working my way through them to take full advantage of all Goodreads has to offer readers and authors. I've listed them below, but you'll need to go to her blog for an indepth discussion.
1.      Participate in the site in your role as a reader, not just an author
2.      Join the Goodreads author program
3.      Join Groups
4.      Link your blog to Goodreads
5.      Create and publicize events
6.      Do giveaways
7.      Post videos and other materials
8.      Create widgets for your website or blog
9.      Decide if you want to advertise
10.   You may not want to use the “Recommendations” feature
11.   Never respond to negative reviews
12.   Measure your success
As for running, I'm still working on speed work instead of distance. My pace continues to get better. I wish I had a picture of my running outfit yesterday. I looked like a neon sign. Orange, yellow, and lime green running shoes, a bright pink shirt, and my trusty white hat. Too cool!
Here's today’s running song Adele’s Chasing Pavements

Happy writing and running, Kathy

Thanks for all the great info, Kathy! My problem is a little different. I have successfully added my e-book to Goodreads but can't seem to add it correctly to my list of books on my Author Site on Goodreads. And this is different from just adding the book as a "to be read." Argggh!

My problem is the same as Wendy's. I can add my books to Goodreads, just not to my list of books I've written. Any ideas? Also, I missed the info on getting my covers back up after Amazon pulled their little stunt.
